[edit]"Uncertain Foreign Investment Plans"
Why is the term "foreign" used in reference to the Metro-NY investment group who were/are Korean-American? To the best of my knowledge they are not "foreigners" (e.g., Non-US Citizens) and shouldn't be consider any more foreign (as a singular description) than Irish-American investors would be. Additionally much of this Sharon Springs entry is reading like a promotional tool for assorted persons and business rather than a fact-based non commercial resource. --Kellsboro Jack (talk) 20:59, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
There is a it of commenters in here about cracking that is editorial in nature and shold be removed. Also as of late 2011 the gas companies in question have cancelled their leases.
There is also opinion about other towns in the area noticing Sharon and wanting to replicate, which isn't substantiated in article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.63.166.192 (talk) 03:29, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Image placement
[edit]I made just a couple of tweaks to the image placement:
- The files should appear on their own line before a paragraph, so I added a line return after each file
- I made a couple of tweaks so that the images lined up with the text and I edited the caption for Beekman 1802 Merchantile--->Beekman 1802, since those are the words in the article and on the image. (I was confused at first about whether or not the image even belonged in the article - the word "Mercantile" threw me off.)
I hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.–CaroleHenson (talk) 02:48, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you Carol, jfy Beekman 1802 Mercantile (without the h) is the complete name of the shop: https://beekman1802.com/whois1802/store-information/--Elisa.rolle (talk) 09:50, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks. That makes sense, I'll add Mercantile to both the image and the content so they're in synch.–CaroleHenson (talk) 14:07, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Intended Edits for this Article
[edit]I've read and reviewed the talk page for this article and would like to help improve the article in any way I can. I noticed there is a tag that suggests the article may read more like a travel guide than an encyclopedia, so I would like to help with:
- general copyediting of the article to improve readability
- fix any minor issues that go against WP:PROMO or WP:NPOV
- consider how to condense or reorganize the "History" and "Sharon Springs rebirth" sections
The changes I intend to make will be done first in a sandbox and slowly implemented as I make them, so as not to disrupt or harm the progress that has been made to the article thus far. If anyone is currently working on the article, please feel free to reply to me and offer any advice you may have for how I can be of better use and benefit to the restoration and repair of the article. Reasons for removing some content from the article
[edit]The sections I reference are can be found in the 21 February 2021 edit made prior to mine. I removed these sections because their content potentially violates WP:PROMO. Anything I removed was reworded to the best of my ability to preserve the information.
The section that reads, "Debbie McGillicuddy has perfected her soapmaking craft and has helped Beekman 1802 Mercantile, another village business, gain traction with their lifestyle brand through their first marketed product, homemade goat milk soap," sounds like promotion, so I reworded it to read as a fact instead. It could also be potentially removed altogether.
The second section on Beekman 1802 also sounds like a violation of WP:PROMO. This section reads, "A major economic engine in the village is Beekman 1802. A lifestyle brand, Beekman 1802, was founded in Sharon Springs in 2008 by Dr. Brent Ridge and author Josh Kilmer-Purcell. The business, which markets artisanal beauty, food, and decor products, has been featured in multiple publications and on The Martha Stewart Show." More promotion for Beekman 1802 can be found in the line "His [referring to Tom Jensen, a Sharon Springs business owner and entrepreneur] cards can now be found Beekman 1802's Mercantile store, online, and in the Village Hall Galleries.", which reads as an advertisement for the store. I also reworded this section to reflect the information in a more encyclopedic fashion.
These are the sections I've removed and my reasoning for editing them out. HappyLittleBonzaii (talk) 19:16, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Oscar Wilde’s lecture in Sharon Springs.
[edit]Verification of Wilde’s lecture in Sharon Springs can be found here: https://www.oscarwildeinamerica.org/lectures-1882/august/0809-catskills.html
Would also note possibly incorrect bold letters, and capitalization in the Wikipedia article: words such as village, upstate. Spycoops (talk) 13:03, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
